How does counseling work?
People seek counseling for many different reasons: depression, grief, anger, loss of a job, parenting issues, or simply feeling stuck or discontent with life. Counseling involves a relationship between a counselor and an individual or group of people who need help making changes and realizing goals. Your counselor will help you clarify problems, educate you, teach you skills, and help you set and achieve goals.

Who can benefit from counseling?
Everyone! Our team of counselors serves individuals, couples, children, teens, and families.

How long is a session?
An average session lasts 45-60 minutes depending on the agreement with your counselor.

How often will I meet with a counselor?
The number and frequency of sessions depends on several factors including: the client’s goals for counseling, the nature of the issue and how long it has been going on, and the client's active participation in the process. You and your counselor will work together to establish a plan for the number and frequency of counseling sessions.

Will what I share be kept private?
All of your conversations with WCC counselors are completely confidential. We are committed to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, except where mandated by law - as in the case of child abuse or imminent danger to yourself or another person.

What kind of training does your staff have?
All of our counselors have at least a Master’s degree in counseling or psychology and are licensed by the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling or the Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board. Please review each counselor's bio for more information about their specialized training and areas of counseling.

How much does counseling cost?
Our session fees typically range from $95-$165 depending on your counselor. The fee will be collected at the start of each session. Group counseling costs $55 per session. WCC accepts cash, check, credit or debit cards..

Will my insurance company pay for counseling?
Many insurance plans reimburse for some portion of counseling.  However, all Waterstone counselors are not contracted with insurance companies.  Please contact us if you would like a list of which counselors accept insurance.

We strongly recommend that you contact your insurance provider and ask the following questions to check on your coverage.

  • Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
  • How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • Is precertification or preauthorization required?

What if I have to cancel my counseling session?   
There is no charge to cancel your session if you give at least 24 hours notice.  Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be assessed a full fee.

What are your hours?
Appointments are available during the day, evening, and even weekends depending on your counselor. Your counselor will contact you to schedule your first appointment.
